Look, I was sitting at my desk today, completely zoning out while copying and pasting the exact same spreadsheet columns for the fiftieth time, and I just needed something fun to watch. And this story’s hook is absolutely brilliant. A bunch of arrogant aliens set up this hardcore 72-hour survival deathmatch to prove whose apex predator is the deadliest, and humanity just sends a regular single dad, a toddler, and a house cat. It immediately reminded me of this feral calico cat that used to live in the parking garage at my old apartment. I spent weeks just leaving tuna out and sitting there, completely frozen, not moving an inch until she finally trusted me enough to eat. That is exactly what Ben does here with this terrifying alien murder-lizard. He doesn’t try to fight it, he just tosses it some dried meat and waits for it to chill out. It’s beautiful. The characters are the best part because they perfectly nail that “humans will pack-bond with literally anything” trope. Whiskers the cat is the real hero here. He just swats a venomous alien hornet out of the air, pins it, and starts cleaning himself like it’s just another Tuesday. That feels exactly like how my office manager treats my urgent IT tickets. Just totally unfazed. And when the big storm hits and the cat’s purring actually calms down a whole cave full of stressed-out natural killers, I started bouncing my leg so hard I spilled cold coffee on my mousepad.
At the end of the day, if you want a super cozy, feel-good sci-fi story about making friends out of monsters instead of just shooting lasers at them, this is totally for you. It’s incredibly wholesome. Go watch it.

The ending is super satisfying. They make peace with the alien council and Ben becomes an ambassador who solves problems like a kindergarten teacher. It wraps up perfectly.

The contrast between the angry alien warlords yelling about honor and Ben just calmly making oatmeal for his kid is hilarious. It works so incredibly well.

When the alien commander tries to attack the camp and all the apex predators immediately jump in to protect the little girl? Pure hype. Best scene in the whole video.

They literally adopt a giant spiky lizard and a swarm of venomous bugs. It is the absolute ultimate found family story, and it gave me the biggest smile.
