Ethan is a captured engineer who doesn’t act like food. Instead of crying, he asks her what she wants. This story is a total blast because it shows that the most powerful thing humans have isn’t a big bomb, but the power to choose our own path. I leaned in so close to the screen during the wedding scene that I forgot I was even at work! My coffee went cold, but I didn’t care because the action was so good.
The characters are awesome. Lyra goes from a bored bride to a total rebel leader, and Ethan is the smart guy who shows her how to think for herself. It is like watching someone finally stand up to a mean boss after a hundred years of bad shifts. The ending gives you a huge emotional win when they team up to build something new.
